Hi, I’m Whitney Pickett.
I’ve spent the last five-plus years teaching in elementary classrooms and leading art classes for kids, and I genuinely believe creative learning is where children come alive. My goal is simple: make space for every child to try, mess up, look closer, and make something they’re proud of.

What we’ll explore
Every term rotates through four big areas, with new projects each week so kids stay curious and stretched.
Watercolor, tempera, and acrylic. Mixing color, exploring brushwork, and learning to see like an artist.
Cutting, tearing, layering. Building stories and patterns with paper, fabric, and found materials.
Pencil, charcoal, and pastel. Observing the world and translating it onto the page with confidence.
Clay, wire, and natural finds. Hands-on 3D projects that connect art with the world outside the studio.
How a class flows
Predictable rhythm, plenty of room to play.
Max 8 students per class. Every child gets real one-on-one time.
Grouped by age (5–8 and 8–10) so projects fit where they are.
- 15 min — Warm-up sketch & story
- 75 min — Guided project & technique
- 20 min — Free-choice studio time
- 10 min — Show & tell, clean up
