Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
These Terms of Service set out the student policies, parent agreement, and liability waiver for the Foundations of Art program at Shepherd School House, taught by Whitney Pickett. By enrolling a child, the parent or legal guardian acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to the policies and terms below.
Enrollment & Tuition
Enrollment is secured upon receipt of registration and payment. Tuition for the 12-week course is $375 per student and may be paid in full prior to the first class, or in two installments of $187.50, with the second payment due at the conclusion of Week 6. A $75 registration fee reserves a student’s place and is applied toward tuition.
Tuition reserves a student’s space and covers instructional time, curriculum, and standard art supplies. Failure to submit payment by the due date may result in suspension from classes until payment is received.
Attendance
Consistent attendance is encouraged, as each lesson builds upon skills taught in previous weeks. No refunds, credits, or make-up classes are provided for classes missed due to illness, vacations, scheduling conflicts, or other personal circumstances. If the instructor must cancel a class due to illness, emergency, or unforeseen circumstances, the parent will be contacted at least one hour before class begins.
Arrival & Pick-Up
- Parents are responsible for ensuring students arrive and are picked up promptly.
- Students may enter the studio no earlier than 10 minutes before class begins.
- Parents or authorized guardians must pick up students promptly at the conclusion of class. Repeated late pick-ups may result in additional fees or dismissal from the program.
- For safety reasons, only individuals authorized by the parent or legal guardian may pick up a student.
Behavior Expectations
Shepherd School House strives to provide a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment. Students are expected to treat instructors, fellow students, and property with respect; follow classroom directions and safety instructions; use art materials appropriately; demonstrate kindness and cooperation; and participate to the best of their ability.
The instructor reserves the right to dismiss any student whose behavior poses a safety concern or significantly disrupts the learning environment. Tuition refunds will not be issued in cases of dismissal due to behavioral concerns.
Health & Safety
Students experiencing fever, vomiting, contagious illness, or other symptoms that could place others at risk should remain home until symptom-free. Parents agree to provide accurate emergency contact information and to notify the instructor of any allergies, medical conditions, behavioral concerns, or special accommodations that may affect participation.
Photography & Media
From time to time, photographs may be taken during classes for educational, promotional, or social media purposes. During enrollment you may choose whether to grant permission for your child to be photographed and featured. No student names will be published without additional parental consent.
Art Materials & Clothing
Students may work with acrylic paints and other materials that could stain clothing. Parents acknowledge that art activities involve reasonable exposure to paint, glue, markers, and similar supplies, and that students should wear clothing suitable for creative activities. Shepherd School House is not responsible for damage to clothing, personal belongings, or other items brought to class.
Liability Waiver & Assumption of Risk
Participation in art classes involves ordinary risks, including but not limited to slips, falls, accidental contact with art supplies, allergic reactions, and other minor injuries that may occur during normal classroom activities. By enrolling, the parent or legal guardian voluntarily permits their child to participate and assumes all ordinary risks associated with participation.
To the fullest extent permitted by Arkansas law, the parent or legal guardian releases and holds harmless Shepherd School House, Whitney Pickett, family members, assistants, volunteers, and property owners from liability for injuries, losses, damages, or claims arising from participation in program activities, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct. Reasonable supervision is provided at all times; however, no environment can be completely risk-free.
Emergency Medical Authorization
In the event of an emergency, and if a parent or emergency contact cannot be reached, the parent authorizes Shepherd School House and its representatives to obtain emergency medical treatment for the child when deemed necessary. The parent is responsible for any medical expenses incurred on behalf of the child.
Refund & Withdrawal Policy
Tuition for the 12-week program is $375 per student, representing a value of $31.25 per instructional week. Refunds are calculated based on the number of unused instructional weeks remaining in the session; no refunds are issued for weeks that have already occurred.
- Registration fee: refundable if a family withdraws before the first class meeting. Once classes begin, the $75 fee is considered earned and is included in tuition calculations.
- Voluntary withdrawal: a student may withdraw for significant life changes (relocation, extended illness or injury, family emergency, schedule changes, or other approved circumstances). Written notice is required, and refunds are calculated on the unused portion of the program.
- Instructor-initiated withdrawal: if a student is removed from the program, a refund is issued for any unused instructional weeks remaining in the session.
- Missed classes: no refunds, credits, or make-up classes are guaranteed for absences, vacations, scheduling conflicts, or missed classes.
Approved refunds are processed within 14 business days of withdrawal or removal from the program.
Changes to These Terms
Shepherd School House reserves the right to update or modify these terms as needed. Changes will not affect tuition already paid for a current session without notice to enrolled families.
